Loom Talent is recruiting a Senior Transport Planner on behalf of a well-established national home and interiors retailer, at their Wakefield distribution site.
This is a hands-on planning role within a busy transport team, reporting into the Transport Planning Manager and working alongside three other planners to coordinate the efficient, cost-effective and compliant movement of product to customers across the UK.
What you'll be doing:
Planning and scheduling daily vehicle routes and loads as part of the wider planning team, liaising with hauliers and drivers to secure capacity and resolve day-to-day issues. Sharing knowledge and best practice with fellow planners, and supporting the Transport Planning Manager with more complex or higher-priority routes. Working closely with warehouse, procurement and customer service teams to align dispatch with stock availability and order priorities. Monitoring delivery performance and compliance (DVSA, drivers' hours, H&S), flagging exceptions and keeping the team informed.
What we're looking for:
Proven experience in a transport planning or logistics scheduling role, ideally within retail, distribution or manufacturing Strong working knowledge of UK transport compliance (drivers' hours, DVSA regulations, Working Time Directive), plus confident use of transport/routing software and Excel Good communication and team-working skills, comfortable collaborating with hauliers, drivers and colleagues across the business. A proactive, organised, hands-on approach suited to a fast-paced distribution environment.Why apply:
