About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Underwriter to join their dynamic team in London . This pivotal role involves assessing and managing insurance risks, ensuring the company's profitability and compliance with regulatory standards. You will work closely with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders to evaluate complex insurance applications, develop pricing strategies, and make informed underwriting decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite complex insurance risks, determining policy terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Analyze financial data, loss history, and market trends to assess potential exposures and liabilities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to facilitate business acquisition and retention.
- Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and legal departments to ensure consistent risk management strategies.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriting staff, fostering professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry changes, regulatory updates, and emerging risks relevant to the insurance portfolio.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance underwriting , with a proven track record in a specific line of business (e.g., Property, Casualty, Specialty).
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment methodologies, and insurance products.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII) are highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred.
