About the Role
Our client is actively seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join their dynamic underwriting department in Coventry . This senior role involves assessing and managing risk for complex insurance policies, making critical decisions on policy acceptance, terms, and pricing. You will play a key role in mentoring junior underwriters, contributing to underwriting strategy, and fostering strong relationships with brokers and clients. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex insurance applications, analyzing risks and determining appropriate policy terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Underwrite a portfolio of business, ensuring adherence to the company's underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior members of the underwriting team, fostering their professional development.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients, providing expert advice and service.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity, recommending adjustments to underwriting strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and actuarial, to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
Requirements
- Significant experience as an Underwriter , with a strong track record in assessing complex risks.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead a team, providing effective training and supervision.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as ACII or equivalent, are highly desirable.
