About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor underwriting strategies, guidelines, and procedures to manage risk effectively.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of underwriters, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the assessment of complex risks and ensure accurate pricing and terms for insurance policies.
- Collaborate with senior management, actuarial, and claims departments to align underwriting with business goals and profitability targets.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.
- Analyze underwriting performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in insurance underwriting, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management across various lines of business.
- Strong understanding of the UK insurance market, regulatory framework, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a remote team effectively.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive underwriting profitability.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., FCII) are highly desirable.
