Senior Urban Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Urban Planner to join their established planning consultancy in Nottingham . This role is essential for managing complex planning applications and development projects across a range of sectors. You will provide expert advice, engage with stakeholders, and lead the planning process to achieve successful outcomes for clients. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to balance office-based collaboration with remote working, enabling you to contribute effectively to shaping development in the East Midlands and beyond, within a supportive and professional team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of planning projects from initial assessment through to appeal, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
• Provide strategic planning advice to clients, including developers, landowners, and businesses.
• Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other statutory planning documents.
• Engage with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and other stakeholders to negotiate and influence planning outcomes.
• Stay abreast of changes in planning policy and legislation, providing expert interpretation and guidance.

Requirements

• A degree in Planning or a related discipline, and membership of the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in town or urban planning, ideally within a consultancy or local government setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of UK planning law, policy, and procedures, with a strong track record of managing complex applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability in negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple deadlines effectively.
