About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior User Experience (UX) Designer to enhance the immersive gameplay of their exciting gaming titles. This hybrid role, based in Bristol , requires a deep understanding of player psychology, interaction design, and the ability to translate complex game mechanics into intuitive and engaging user experiences. You will work collaboratively with game designers, artists, and engineers to shape the player journey from initial concept through to final release, ensuring accessibility and delight for a global audience. Your expertise will be critical in defining the user interface and interaction models that make their games stand out in the competitive entertainment technology sector .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and prototyping of intuitive user interfaces and interactive systems for video games across multiple platforms (PC, console, mobile).
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis to gather insights and validate design decisions.
- Create detailed UX documentation, including user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Collaborate closely with game designers, narrative designers, artists, and engineers to ensure seamless integration of UX into the game development pipeline.
- Champion user-centered design principles and advocate for the player experience throughout the development process.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from user testing, playtesting sessions, and internal reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in UX design, with a significant portfolio demonstrating work on video games or interactive entertainment.
- Proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
- Strong understanding of game design principles, player psychology, and common UI patterns in the gaming industry.
- Experience conducting various forms of user research and usability testing.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and working within cross-functional game development teams.
