Senior VFX Artist

About the Role

Our client is searching for an exceptional Senior VFX Artist to join their talented visual effects team in Sunderland . You will be responsible for creating stunning and impactful visual effects that elevate the aesthetic and gameplay experience of their latest project. This role requires a keen artistic eye, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments. You will play a key role in defining the visual style of effects, ensuring they are both technically sound and artistically compelling, contributing significantly to the overall polish and immersion of the final product.

Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality visual effects (VFX) for characters, environments, and gameplay events, including explosions, magic, and atmospheric effects.
• Develop and implement particle systems , shaders, and post-processing effects within the game engine.
• Optimize VFX assets for performance, ensuring they meet technical requirements without compromising visual quality.
• Collaborate with art directors and technical artists to establish and maintain the visual style of the game's effects.
• Work closely with gameplay designers and programmers to integrate VFX seamlessly into gameplay mechanics.
• Provide guidance and feedback to junior VFX artists, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a VFX Artist in the gaming industry.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of high-quality visual effects.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D art software, including Houdini , Maya, Photoshop, and Substance Designer.
• Expertise in creating and optimizing effects within modern game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Solid understanding of animation principles and physics as they relate to VFX.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced development setting.
