Senior VFX Artist

About the Role

Our client, a respected game development studio situated in Sunderland , is looking for a talented and experienced Senior VFX Artist to join their passionate team. This role is critical for enhancing the visual fidelity and impact of our games through spectacular visual effects. You will be responsible for creating and implementing stunning particle effects, magical spells, explosions, and other dynamic visual elements that immerse players in our game worlds. Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality, performant visual effects (VFX) for characters, environments, and gameplay events using industry-standard tools.
• Collaborate closely with art directors, technical artists, and game designers to ensure VFX meet artistic and gameplay requirements.
• Integrate VFX into the game engine, optimizing for performance across various platforms.
• Develop and refine VFX techniques and pipelines to improve quality and efficiency.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior VFX artists, fostering their technical and artistic growth.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in VFX art and game development.

Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a VFX Artist in the game industry, with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency with particle systems (e.g., Niagara, Unity VFX Graph) and shader creation.
• Expertise in 2D and 3D art tools such as Photoshop, Substance Designer, Maya, and Houdini.
• Strong understanding of animation principles as they apply to VFX, and excellent artistic composition skills.
• Experience working with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a studio environment and effectively communicate ideas.
