About the Role
Our client, a celebrated game studio in Edinburgh , is seeking a highly imaginative and technically proficient Senior VFX Artist to elevate the visual spectacle of their games. You will be responsible for creating stunning visual effects, from explosive action sequences to subtle atmospheric elements, that enhance player immersion. This role requires a blend of artistic flair and technical expertise to deliver captivating in-game effects within established pipelines. Key Responsibilities
- Design, create, and implement high-quality visual effects (VFX) for characters, environments, and gameplay events.
- Utilize particle systems, shaders, and scripting to produce dynamic and visually impressive effects.
- Collaborate with art directors and game designers to conceptualize and refine VFX that serve gameplay and narrative.
- Optimize VFX for performance across various platforms, ensuring smooth frame rates and efficient memory usage.
- Stay current with emerging VFX technologies and techniques to maintain a cutting edge.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the VFX pipeline and tools.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a VFX Artist in the games industry.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating a wide range of in-game visual effects.
- Proficiency in real-time VFX tools within game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity (e.g., Niagara, VFX Graph).
- Experience with particle systems, shader creation, and animation.
- Understanding of art fundamentals, including color theory, composition, and timing.
- Ability to work collaboratively and receive/implement constructive feedback.
