Full Description

The great thing about working within a care environment, is that two days will never be entirely the same. The right candidate must be organised in ascertaining the client’s needs promoting independence and choice.

All candidates will be expected to help Manage the night delivery of safe and dignified care to all the residents, and to work with Heads of Care and manage other Waking Night Care Assistants through mentoring, observing and working alongside other care staff. To carry out regular supervisions and hold regular recorded staff meetings, and to oversee the safe administration of medication in alignment with policy to the residents at the home.

This will also include all aspects of personal care, including bathing, toileting and getting people up and dressed. The primary role of a Senior Waking Night staff member is to manage the shift accordingly and to provide our residents with high quality direct care and support that complies with all CQC and Health & Safety standards. Consistently working the hours as set out in the rota. Providing high quality monitoring; care and support and practical assistance with dignity and respect This will include helping people with evening activities, helping people to get ready for bed, get up in the morning, meeting any personal care or health needs or emergencies; offering medication if trained to do so during the night and supporting people who are awake for any reason.

• Staff must stay awake and alert and provide regular checks during the night as required by your manager or as indicated by the peoples’ care plans and recorded accurately.
• Staff must ensure that the resident’s room is clean and tidy and safe before they go to bed and when they leave them next morning.
• When Night staff are not directly helping with the resident’s other tasks you will be expected to perform domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry or ironing, updating records, training and preparing trays for breakfast.
• You will adhere to all relevant policies and procedures and be a part of the efficient running of the home, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere for our residents and your colleagues.

• Excellent hourly rates of pay, with annual uplifts, with clear pay bands.
• Extra hourly rates paid for weekend nights with £0.50 Fri / £0.75 Sat / £1.00 Sun.
• Extra hourly rates paid for Bank Cover with £0.50 M-F /£0.75 Sat/ £1.00 Sun

A Successful Candidate Should Have

We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated and organised individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have experience leading a small team, be competent in medication administration, and be confident working both independently and as part of a team. You will be calm under pressure, computer literate, and capable of producing clear reports. Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends, is required. Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs and complex care requirements is desirable but not essential

Candidate Must Have

• Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or willing to work towards)
• Right to live and work in the UK
• 2 x Positive References
• DBS Check.
• A full UK driving licence would be an advantage but not essential
