Senior Water Resources Civil Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Water Resources Civil Engineer to join their fully remote team, based anywhere in the UK but with strong links to their operations supporting projects in Edinburgh and Scotland. This senior position involves leading the technical delivery of complex water management and drainage projects, mentoring a team of engineers, and engaging with key stakeholders. You will be instrumental in developing innovative solutions for flood defence, wastewater management, and sustainable water use, driving technical excellence within a fully remote, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of major water resources and drainage infrastructure projects.
• Perform advanced hydraulic and hydrological analysis for complex schemes.
• Develop and implement strategic water management plans, including flood mitigation and SuDS strategies.
• Manage project teams, provide technical mentorship, and conduct quality assurance of design deliverables.
• Engage with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to foster strong relationships and ensure project success.
• Contribute to business development activities, proposal writing, and tendering processes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in water resources engineering , including design, analysis, and project management.
• Expertise in hydraulic modeling software and flood risk assessment techniques.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, water policy, and sustainable development principles.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams in a remote working context.
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
