Senior Water Resources Engineer - Environmental Planning

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their expert team in Leeds . This role focuses on the planning, design, and management of water-related infrastructure and environmental solutions, including flood risk management, drainage systems, and water supply projects. You will play a key role in developing sustainable water strategies for urban and rural environments, working closely with local authorities, developers, and environmental agencies. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of flood risk assessments (FRA) and surface water management plans (SWMP).
• Design and oversee the implementation of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and traditional drainage infrastructure.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling for rivers, floodplains, and urban drainage networks using industry-standard software.
• Provide technical expertise on water resource management, water quality, and environmental impact assessments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure project success and compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documents for review and approval.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, CIWEM) or working towards it.
• Demonstrated experience (typically 6+ years) in water resources engineering, focusing on drainage and flood risk.
• Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental regulations and water management policies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
