Wigan Crisis Space provides a safe space for those experiencing mental and emotional distress and suicidal ideation. Forming part of the Greater Manchester VCSE crisis pathway, we are an out-of-hours, non-clinical alternative to A&E for adults to access timely, compassionate support from trained recovery workers – the service operates from 3pm to 10pm, 7 days a week. We are now looking for a Service Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week, including out-of-hours and weekend management cover, as well as support on a rota basis. You will work a minimum of two shifts per month during the week, from 2pm to 10pm (on site) and two shifts per month during the weekend, from 2pm to 10pm (on site). The Benefits

The Role

As the Service Manager, you will lead the Wigan Crisis Space to deliver safe, effective and person-centred support for adults experiencing mental and emotional distress. Working closely with people who use the service, community organisations and mental health and crisis pathway partners, you will strengthen integrated support and ensure the service responds to local needs. You will manage and develop the staff and volunteer team, overseeing recruitment, supervision, performance, wellbeing and reflective practice while ensuring high standards of safeguarding and service delivery. Additionally, you will:

• Embed co-production throughout service development and delivery
• Maintain accurate records and provide performance and funder reports
• Develop and manage volunteering within the service
• Support budget and resource management
• Contribute to funding and service development opportunities

About You

To be considered as a Service Manager, you will need:

• Experience of working with adults experiencing mental health challenges
• Experience of managing and leading teams within health, social care, voluntary sector or community-based services
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, best practice, and relevant policy relating to adults with mental health needs
• A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Health and Social Care (or equivalent professional qualification) and/or significant management experience within mental health, health or social care services
• A relevant professional qualification in health, social care, counselling, psychology, community development, or a related field Please note, appointments are subject to Family Action receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service Adult Workforce Enhanced DBS.
