The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established manufacturing business based in Elland, currently seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to join their production team.

As Shift Supervisor, you will support the Shift Manager in the day-to-day operation and performance of the team while on shift. You will play a key role in ensuring production targets, quality standards and operational procedures are consistently achieved.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional with a strong background in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies who is looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Shift Manager with the effective operation and performance of the production team.

• Assess and resolve quality and production issues where possible, escalating where required.

• Ensure all workstations are correctly set up and that the appropriate SOP documentation is clearly displayed.

• Ensure finished goods are transferred promptly to the correct storage locations and are ready for shipping.

• Maintain 5S standards and ensure housekeeping remains at a consistently high level.

• Monitor production standards and ensure targets and quality requirements are achieved.

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the shift.

• Ensure company policies, procedures and health & safety requirements are followed.

• Provide effective communication between production teams and management.

• Support the team in identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and performance.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Shift Supervisor / Production Supervisor within a manufacturing or production environment.

• Proven experience in a similar supervisory role.

• Six Sigma and/or Lean experience is essential.

• Strong understanding of production standards and how to ensure these are achieved.

• Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings to ensure products are manufactured correctly.

• Good understanding of quality requirements and production processes.

• Experience with 5S and continuous improvement principles.

• Understanding of and compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a production team.
