Shift Team Leader – Power Generation
Location: Central Scotland Hours: 42 hours average | 12.5-hour shifts | Days & Nights Salary: Competitive + Bonus & Benefits Job Type: Permanent
An established operator within the power and renewable energy sector is looking for a Shift Team Leader to join a 24/7 operational facility in Central Scotland.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining DCS/control room operation, plant monitoring and shift team supervision, ensuring the facility operates safely, reliably and within environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor boilers, turbines, pumps and associated plant via DCS/HMI/SCADA.
- Lead, support and develop the shift operations team.
- Coordinate plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational issues.
- Carry out plant inspections and support minor reactive maintenance.
- Monitor CEMS and ensure environmental permit compliance.
- Maintain accurate operational and shift records.
- Ensure high standards of Health & Safety across the facility.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- Experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, biomass, CHP, steam-raising or a similar process environment.
- Strong DCS/HMI/SCADA control room experience.
- Experience operating mechanical/process plant.
- Previous team leadership experience or the capability to step into a leadership position.
- HNC/NVQ or equivalent technical experience.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, BOAS or AP/SAP experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Shift Pattern & Benefits
You'll work 4 on / 4 off across days and nights, with an 18-day break after every seven cycles.
