Site Engineer
Location: Gatwick Airport, West Sussex
Contract: 6 Months (Potential Extension)
Rate: £350 - £400 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
Start Date: Immediate
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of a major programme of works at Gatwick Airport. Working within a live operational environment, you will play a key role in ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Setting out works in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
Ensuring all construction activities are delivered safely and in line with project programmes.
Managing and coordinating subcontractors on site.
Producing and maintaining accurate site records, diaries, and progress reports.
Reviewing engineering drawings and identifying potential issues before works commence.
Liaising with the design team to resolve technical queries and provide engineering solutions.
Conducting site inspections and quality checks throughout the construction process.
Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
Managing permits, work packages, and site documentation.
Monitoring progress against programme and reporting any risks or delays.
Supporting project meetings and coordination activities with key stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with airport regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
Assisting with planning and sequencing works to minimise disruption within the live airport environment.
Producing as-built information and completion documentation.
Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Site Engineer on construction or infrastructure projects.
Strong setting-out experience using GPS, Total Stations, and associated surveying equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of quality assurance processes and documentation.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders.
Valid CSCS Card.
Previous experience working within airports or other live operational environments.
Civil engineering, infrastructure, aviation, rail, highways, utilities, or major projects experience.
SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering
First Aid qualification
