Site Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Site Engineer to support a major infrastructure project in Plymouth . This hands-on role involves ensuring that construction work is executed according to design specifications, managing setting out, surveying, and quality control on site. You will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the project, working closely with the site management team and subcontractors. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to gain valuable experience on a significant development in the Plymouth region and advance their career in civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake setting out, levelling, and surveying tasks using appropriate equipment.
• Ensure all works are carried out to the correct specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Interpret construction drawings , specifications, and method statements.
• Assist in the supervision of subcontractors and direct labour, monitoring progress and quality.
• Maintain site records, including daily diaries, quality checks, and progress reports.
• Implement and monitor health and safety procedures on site, reporting any concerns.

Requirements

• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Site Engineer or in a similar engineering role on construction sites.
• Proficiency in using surveying equipment (e.g., Total Station, GPS).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Good understanding of construction methodologies and health and safety best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
