Site Manager – Civil Engineering / Rail
Sector: Civil Engineering / Rail Infrastructure
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major rail depot project in Holbeck, Leeds.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of groundworks and drainage gangs, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and to the required quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term project with an anticipated duration of 18 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and supervise groundworks and drainage operations on site.
* Oversee groundworkers, drainage gangs and subcontractors.
* Coordinate daily site activities and ensure works are delivered in line with the programme.
* Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and rail requirements.
* Read and interpret drawings, specifications and construction information.
* Liaise with the Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors and site teams.
* Monitor progress, productivity and quality of works.
* Carry out regular site inspections and ensure works meet the required standards.
* Manage site paperwork, permits, inspections and daily records.
* Identify and resolve site issues promptly.
* Ensure materials, plant and labour are properly coordinated.
* Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
* Attend site meetings and provide regular progress updates.
* Ensure all works comply with relevant civil engineering and rail standards.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering.
* Strong background in groundworks and drainage.
* Rail & Civils Background
* Experience working on rail infrastructure or rail-related projects is highly desirable.
* Ability to manage multiple gangs and subcontractors effectively.
* Strong understanding of construction programmes, drawings and specifications.
* Good communication and leadership skills.
* Strong commitment to health and safety.
* PTS Card (Personal Track Safety)
* Relevant Site Management qualifications and CSCS certification.
* SMSTS required
