Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to manage a schools refurbishment scheme in the PO12 area.
The project includes a significant roofing package, so we are particularly interested in Site Managers with a strong roofing background who are comfortable managing specialist roofing subcontractors, refurbishment works and live/occupied education environments.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of the refurbishment works
* Managing and coordinating roofing and associated subcontract packages
* Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme
* Managing health & safety on site, including RAMS, inductions, toolbox talks and site inspections
* Monitoring quality and carrying out snagging/defect inspections
* Coordinating subcontractors, deliveries and site logistics
* Liaising with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager, client and school representatives
* Maintaining daily site records and progress reports
* Managing short-term programmes and identifying potential delays
* Ensuring appropriate protection and segregation is maintained where works interface with school staff, pupils or the public
* Overseeing temporary works, access, scaffolding and working-at-height activities associated with the roofing package
* Driving the project through to completion and handover
Required Experience
* Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment projects
* Strong previous experience managing roofing works/packages
* Experience of flat and/or pitched roofing systems and associated external works
* Good understanding of working at height, scaffolding and roofing-related health & safety
* Previous schools/education sector experience is highly desirable
* Experience working within live or occupied environments
* Strong subcontractor management and programming skills
* Ability to manage quality, health & safety and programme simultaneously
* Good communication and client-facing skills
Qualifications / Tickets

* SMSTS
* CSCS – Manager/Black Card
* First Aid at Work
* Asbestos Awareness
* DBS clearance or willingness/ability to obtain the appropriate clearance for working within a school environment
