Are you a Site Services or Utilities Engineer with a passion for energy efficiency and sustainability? We're working with a leading food manufacturing business in Cambridgeshire to find a Site Services Engineer - Projects to join their team on a 12-month FTC, with genuine scope to become permanent.
Commutable from Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots, Peterborough, Cambridge, Ely and Stamford.
The Role
This is a newly created position that bridges the gap between site services and the sustainability team. You'll take ownership of the site's energy performance across three separate refrigeration systems, steam generation, compressed air, gas boilers, and chilled water units, working closely with both the maintenance team and the site's energy and sustainability lead.
In your first few months, you'll get hands on, working alongside the services team and principal contractors to understand current set points, SOPs, and where improvements can be made. From there, you'll move into project work, supporting larger capital projects including refrigeration plant upgrades and improving energy efficiency across the site.
What You'll Be Doing
Reviewing and validating current set points and standard operating procedures across refrigeration, steam, compressed air, and boiler systems Building strong working relationships with key contractors and OEMs Supporting energy efficiency and sustainability projects, including major plant upgrades Reducing reliance on external contractors by bringing knowledge and capability in-house Acting as a link between day-to-day site services and the wider sustainability strategy
What We're Looking For
Background in Site Services, Utilities, or Multi-Skilled Engineering, ideally with exposure to refrigeration, steam, or boiler systems Qualification in Engineering in a relevant discipline Genuine interest in energy efficiency and process optimisation, this is more important than ticking every technical box IOSH or equivalent risk assessment knowledge A hands-on, proactive approach. This is a doing role, not just a theorising one
Why Apply
This role sits within a wider strategic sustainability programme and offers real autonomy and variety. While it's initially a 12-month contract, there's a clear path to a permanent position for the right candidate who can demonstrate impact.
