Software Developer (Backend)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Software Developer with a specialization in backend development to join their technology team based in Reading . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic and APIs that power their innovative applications. This role requires a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database design, with a commitment to writing clean, efficient, and scalable code. You'll work in a collaborative, agile environment, contributing to key features and system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop robust and scalable backend services and APIs using languages like Python, Java, or Node.js .
• Design and implement efficient database schemas and queries for relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to software development best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and product managers to define and implement new features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Go ) and relevant frameworks.
• Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB .
• Understanding of API design principles (RESTful services).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies.
