Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Software Engineer with a specialization in backend development to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is integral to developing and enhancing the server-side logic and APIs that power our client's core products. You will be working within a collaborative and innovative team, contributing to the design and implementation of scalable and reliable software solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and system architecture for scalability and efficiency.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to industry best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members and incorporating feedback on your own code.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in production and development environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in backend software development .
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java , Python , C#, or Go.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks.
• Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker) is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented, hybrid setting in Stoke-on-Trent .
