Software Engineer - Game Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and passionate Software Engineer to join their innovative game development studio in Liverpool . This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment and has a deep understanding of game development principles. You will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of core game features, systems, and tools that bring immersive gaming experiences to life. Working from our state-of-the-art Liverpool studio, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of artists, designers, and producers to deliver high-quality, engaging games.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize game systems and features using C++ and game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for gameplay mechanics, AI, physics, or graphics systems.
• Collaborate with designers and artists to translate creative vision into functional game elements.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs and performance issues within the game engine and codebase.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Contribute to the development of tools and pipelines that enhance the game development process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience in game development , with a strong portfolio of shipped titles or significant personal projects.
• Proficiency in C++ and experience with modern game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity .
• Strong understanding of game programming principles, including algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design.
• Experience with debugging tools and performance profiling techniques.
• Passion for video games and a strong desire to create compelling interactive experiences.
