Soil Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Soil Scientist to join their environmental consultancy team, operating remotely but with occasional site visits across the UK, including the Sheffield area. This role focuses on the analysis, assessment, and management of soil health for a variety of clients in the agricultural, environmental, and land development sectors. You will play a key role in advising on sustainable land use, remediation strategies, and improving soil productivity. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated scientist to contribute to vital environmental initiatives from a flexible remote working setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field assessments of soil properties, including physical, chemical, and biological characteristics.
• Develop soil management plans to enhance fertility, sustainability, and environmental protection.
• Analyze soil data and prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for clients.
• Advise on strategies for soil remediation, erosion control, and land reclamation.
• Stay current with research and best practices in soil science and related environmental fields.
• Collaborate with project managers, environmental consultants, and other specialists.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in soil analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
• Proficiency with relevant scientific software and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of soil chemistry, physics, and biology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
