Solar Project Developer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and resourceful Solar Project Developer to join their expanding renewable energy team based in Leeds . You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar photovoltaic (PV) project opportunities, from initial site assessment through to financial close. This hybrid role requires a blend of strategic market analysis, stakeholder engagement, and meticulous project planning. You will work closely with landowners, local authorities, grid operators, and internal technical and finance teams to bring solar projects to fruition and contribute significantly to the UK's renewable energy targets. This role offers the flexibility to balance remote work with essential site visits and in-person meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential sites for solar PV development, considering technical, environmental, and planning constraints.
• Conduct feasibility studies and preliminary financial analyses for proposed solar projects.
• Engage with and negotiate terms with landowners and other key stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit planning applications and liaise with local planning authorities.
• Secure grid connection offers and manage the grid connection application process.
• Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, working towards achieving financial close.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Renewable Energy, Geography, Planning, or Business.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project development, ideally within the renewable energy sector, specifically solar PV.
• Demonstrated understanding of the UK planning system and grid connection processes.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze land agreements, environmental reports, and basic financial metrics.
• Experience with GIS software and project management tools is a plus.
