Solar PV Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Solar PV Engineer to join their growing team in Southampton . This hands-on role involves the design, specification, and technical support for a range of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects , from initial concept to completion. You will work closely with the sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure the successful technical delivery of solar energy solutions. Your expertise will be vital in optimizing system performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the advancement of renewable energy infrastructure. This role requires regular site visits and collaboration within the engineering department.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer solar PV systems for commercial and residential applications.
• Produce detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and technical documentation.
• Perform site assessments and surveys to determine system feasibility and optimal placement.
• Specify solar panels, inverters, mounting systems, and associated electrical components.
• Provide technical support to sales, installation, and operations teams.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and safety codes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in the design of solar PV systems .
• Proficiency with PV design software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope).
• Strong understanding of electrical principles and components used in solar installations.
• Knowledge of relevant UK building regulations and electrical standards (e.g., BS 7671).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for site specifics in Southampton .
