About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing the busy kitchen operations at a dynamic catering venue in Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and ensuring consistent food quality and presentation.
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, guiding them on cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen procedures.
• Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring all service runs efficiently and to standard.
• Maintain rigorous standards of hygiene and food safety across all kitchen areas, conducting regular checks.
• Contribute to inventory management and stock control, assisting with ordering and receiving supplies.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a demanding catering environment.
• A passion for food and a strong understanding of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a commercial kitchen.
• Culinary qualifications are desirable but not essential if supported by strong practical experience in Newcastle upon Tyne .
