About the Role
Our client, a highly regarded catering company in Edinburgh , is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations. You will play a key role in menu execution, staff supervision, and maintaining the exceptional standards of food quality and presentation that our client is known for. This position offers a blend of hands-on culinary work and leadership responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute to menu development and uphold food safety standards. The role involves a hybrid working model, combining on-site kitchen duties with remote administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes and culinary techniques.
- Contribute to menu planning and development, creating innovative dishes that align with the company's brand.
- Maintain strict standards of hygiene , cleanliness, and food safety throughout the kitchen.
- Manage inventory levels, monitor stock rotation, and control food costs effectively.
- Conduct remote administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies and managing schedules, as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a demanding catering or restaurant environment.
- Strong understanding of culinary techniques, flavour profiles, and presentation standards.
- Experience in managing and motivating a kitchen team.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work efficiently under pressure.
- Comfortable with using digital tools for remote communication and administrative tasks.
