About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organised and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead the support for students with diverse learning needs within a mainstream primary school in Belfast . This crucial role involves developing and implementing effective strategies to ensure all pupils, regardless of their needs, receive the appropriate support to thrive academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the senior leadership team to create an inclusive environment where every child can achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation and development of the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy.
• Coordinate the day-to-day provision for pupils with SEND, including managing support staff and resources.
• Liaise with parents, external agencies, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for pupils.
• Conduct regular reviews of SEND provision and pupil progress, making adjustments as necessary.
• Provide guidance and training to school staff on SEND best practices and legal requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to SEND provision.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Relevant postgraduate qualification or training in Special Educational Needs (e.g., NASENCO).
• Significant experience working with children with a range of SEND in a school setting.
• In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a complex workload and work effectively within a team.
