About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a forward-thinking school in Edinburgh . This critical role involves leading the school's approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate educational provision and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to develop and implement effective support strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy and provision.
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the SEND policy, ensuring effective identification and assessment of students' needs.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure collaborative support for students.
• Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on effective strategies for supporting students with SEND.
• Maintain accurate records of SEND students and oversee the creation and review of Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans.
• Monitor the progress of students with SEND and ensure interventions are effective.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant teaching experience, preferably including a SENCO qualification or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of the legal framework and best practices relating to SEND in the UK.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
• Experience in developing and implementing effective intervention strategies.
