About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs within a supportive primary school in Belfast . This pivotal role involves working closely with students, parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure all pupils receive the tailored support they need to thrive academically and personally. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the school's SEN policy, fostering an inclusive environment where every child can achieve their best. This is an important position within the educational community of Northern Ireland , focused on equity and student well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review the school's SEN policy and provision effectively.
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the SEN policy, including the management of SEN support staff.
• Liaise with parents/carers, external agencies, and other schools to ensure consistent support for students.
• Oversee the maintenance of accurate records for all students with special educational needs.
• Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on effective strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant teaching experience.
• Completion of the National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent qualification.
• In-depth knowledge of national legislation and guidance relating to SEN.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in identifying, assessing, and supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
