Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant to join their inclusive educational setting in Edinburgh . You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support to children with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them to achieve their full potential. This role requires patience, understanding, and a proactive approach to supporting individual student needs within the classroom and potentially in specialized learning environments. Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, assisting them with academic tasks and personal development.
• Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies developed by teachers and specialists.
• Assist in creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Help students develop social skills, independence, and self-confidence.
• Support students with personal care needs as required, maintaining dignity and respect.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

Requirements

• Experience working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) .
• A relevant qualification or training in SEN support, education, or child psychology is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a strong desire to support vulnerable learners.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
