About the Role
Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support students within a mainstream primary school in Southampton . This role is vital in providing tailored assistance to children with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive in a supportive educational setting. You will work closely with teachers and other specialists to implement individual education plans and foster an inclusive classroom environment where every student feels empowered to succeed. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with identified special educational needs, under the guidance of the class teacher and SEN coordinator.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Support students' access to the curriculum through differentiated tasks and appropriate resources.
- Help foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging social interaction and participation.
- Aid with personal care needs where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect for the individual student.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting or with SEN.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from teaching staff.
