Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to provide crucial support within a mainstream primary school in Bradford . This role involves working closely with students who have diverse learning needs, providing tailored assistance to help them access the curriculum and thrive in their educational journey. You will collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with identified special educational needs.
• Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and activities as required.
• Support the development of students' social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
• Liaise effectively with class teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
• Help to create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
• Support students with personal care needs where necessary, with dignity and respect.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a school setting.
• A good understanding of various SEN conditions and appropriate support strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider educational team.
• An enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
• Proficiency in using online collaboration tools for remote work and communication.
