Job Description
Overview
Aspire are currently recruiting for a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and helping them achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support.
- Assist pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
- Implement individual education and behaviour support plans.
- Support pupils with personal care where required.
- Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
- Record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months' experience working in an SEN setting or supporting children with additional needs.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring and resilient nature.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to individual pupil needs.
- The right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience with PECS, Makaton, Team Teach, or other SEN-related training.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
