We are currently seeking an experienced and committed Specialist SEN Support Worker to join a specialist school in the Bury area , supporting pupils across both primary and secondary schools,

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs .

The Role

As a Specialist SEN Support Worker, you will provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to promote pupils' academic, social, emotional and personal development .

Responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs.
• Supporting pupils to access learning and engage positively within the school environment.
• Developing positive, professional relationships with pupils based on trust, consistency and clear boundaries.
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, social development and behaviour management .
• Implementing individualised support strategies and following pupil support plans.
• Responding calmly and appropriately to incidents of dysregulation or challenging behaviour.
• Promoting independence, resilience, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals where appropriate.
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, professional conduct and pupil welfare.
• Contributing to a positive, structured and nurturing school environment.

About You

We are looking for a professional who is calm, resilient, empathetic and consistent , with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may present with complex needs.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs .
• A strong understanding of positive behaviour support and effective boundaries.
• The confidence to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A patient, proactive and solution-focused approach.
• A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.

Experience within a specialist SEN school, mainstream school, residential care, youth work, education, healthcare or similar setting would be highly advantageous.

Relevant qualifications in SEN, Education, Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care, Behaviour Support or a related field are desirable.
