Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a proactive and community-focused Sports Development Officer to drive sports participation and healthy lifestyles across Manchester . In this exciting role, you will design, implement, and evaluate a range of sports development initiatives, working with local schools, sports clubs, community groups, and governing bodies. Your efforts will be key to increasing engagement in sports and physical activity for diverse populations, promoting inclusivity, and fostering talent development within the region, ensuring accessible opportunities for all residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver strategic sports development plans aligned with local and national priorities.
• Organize and promote sports events, festivals, and coaching programmes to encourage participation.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, sports clubs, and community organisations.
• Identify and secure funding opportunities through grant applications and sponsorship.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of sports development programmes, reporting on outcomes and KPIs.
• Support the training and development of coaches, volunteers, and sports leaders within the community.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development, community engagement, or a related field.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Sports Science, Leisure Management, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of the sports landscape, coaching principles, and participation barriers.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A passion for promoting sport and physical activity to all age groups and abilities.
