Sports Development Officer

About the Role

Our client seeks a motivated Sports Development Officer to champion participation in sports and physical activities across Cardiff . You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing programs that encourage community engagement, particularly among underserved groups, and foster a lifelong love for sports. This role involves close collaboration with local schools, community centers, and sports clubs to increase opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to get active. You will be a key figure in promoting a healthy lifestyle and embedding sports within the fabric of the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans to increase sports participation rates in the designated area.
• Organize and deliver community sports programs, events, and festivals.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with local schools, governing bodies, and sports clubs.
• Seek funding opportunities and manage budgets for sports development initiatives.
• Promote inclusivity and accessibility in sports for all ages, genders, and abilities.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of programs, reporting on key performance indicators.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development, community engagement, or a related field.
• A relevant qualification in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related discipline.
• Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage events and projects.
• Strong networking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in sport.
• A passion for sport and its power to create positive social change.
