About the Role
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Sports Development Officer to join their team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role focuses on increasing participation in sports and physical activity across the local community, particularly targeting underrepresented groups. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating sports programmes, forging partnerships with local schools, clubs, and community organisations. The successful candidate will be passionate about sport and possess the skills to inspire and engage diverse populations, making a tangible difference to public health and community cohesion in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a range of sports programmes and events to promote physical activity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local sports clubs, schools, and community groups.
- Identify opportunities to increase sports participation, focusing on target demographics.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sports development initiatives, reporting on outcomes.
- Manage project budgets and secure funding for new initiatives where appropriate.
- Promote a culture of health and well-being through accessible and inclusive sports opportunities.
Requirements
- Experience in sports development, community engagement, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of sports participation barriers and strategies to overcome them.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A degree in Sports Development, Leisure Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the region.
