We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable GP Locum to join our friendly and supportive team at Springburn Health Centre for a 6-month fixed-term period , working 4 sessions per week .

Ideally, we are looking for someone who can work two full days, preferably Monday and Tuesday , although we are very happy to discuss alternative working days with the right candidate.

About the Practice

We are an established GP practice based within Springburn Health Centre , providing care to a diverse local population in North Glasgow.

Our clinical team currently includes:

• 4 GP Partners
• 2 Practice Nurses
• An experienced and supportive administrative team

Being based within a health centre gives us access to a range of additional services and facilities, including:

• Physiotherapy
• Other community and primary care services based within the health centre

We work closely as a multidisciplinary team and aim to provide a supportive environment in which clinicians can discuss cases, share workload and seek advice when required.

The Role

The post is for 4 GP sessions per week for an initial fixed term of 6 months .

The successful applicant will undertake routine general practice work and will be well supported by the wider practice team.

The practice is also actively involved in the wider primary care community and engages with local GP Cluster activity and collaborative working across neighbouring practices .

Developing Our Digital Practice

We are also moving towards a more digitally enabled model of general practice and are currently implementing FootFall as a new route for patient contact with the practice . FootFall provides patients with a structured online “front door” through which they can submit clinical, administrative and routine enquiries, allowing requests to be directed to the most appropriate member of the practice team. Our aim is to use digital systems to improve access, reduce unnecessary telephone pressure, support more effective triage and make it easier for patients to contact us in a way that suits their needs. We see this as part of the continuing development of the practice—using technology to improve efficiency while retaining the personal relationships, continuity and accessibility that remain central to how we provide care

'one of the things I value most about working here is the continuity that general practice can provide. Over that time, I have had the privilege of looking after many of the same patients and families across different stages of their lives, and in some cases across generations. That long-term relationship with our community is an important part of the identity of our practice and something we remain very proud of. Alongside my work as a GP Partner, I have developed a specialist interest in neurodiversity and neurodivergent healthcare , particularly ADHD and autism. I also work with . , a specialist service providing assessment and care for children, young people and adults with ADHD and autism. I have an interest in clinical Psychiatry and am also a post Graduate tutor for south Wales University teamsing Neurodiversity in Health care for clinicans Neurodiversity Courses | Diploma MSc

This experience has strengthened my interest in how primary care can better understand and support neurodivergent people. We know that people with ADHD and autism can sometimes experience additional barriers when accessing healthcare, communicating their needs or navigating complex healthcare systems. As a practice, we are keen to continue developing our understanding in this area and would particularly welcome applications from GPs who already have, or would like to develop, an interest in ADHD, autism, neurodivergence or neurodivergent healthcare . Previous specialist experience is not required — enthusiasm and an interest in developing this area are equally welcome.

We are also an established GP training practice , with Dr Candy and Dr Gourlay both working as GP Trainers .

Teaching, supervision and professional development are therefore embedded within the culture of the practice. We enjoy having trainees as part of the team and value the contribution that education brings to the wider practice. It encourages discussion, reflection and the sharing of knowledge, and helps us continue to develop as clinicians ourselves.

Special Interests

We strongly believe that being a GP should not mean following one fixed professional pathway. We actively encourage colleagues to develop specialist interests and portfolio careers , creating a varied or “mosaic” career that allows them to combine general practice with other areas of professional interest. Within our Partnership there are interests in areas including medical education and training, neurodivergent healthcare and minor surgery , and we are supportive of colleagues who wish to develop their own additional interests, skills or qualifications.

General practice is an enormously rewarding career, but it can also be demanding, and we believe that a sustainable career requires appropriate balance, flexibility and support. Diversity

Our practice serves a diverse population in North Glasgow, including many patients living with significant socioeconomic disadvantage and complex health and social needs . We recognise the challenges currently facing NHS services, particularly increasing demand and long waiting times for secondary and specialist care. These pressures can disproportionately affect people who are already vulnerable or who find healthcare systems difficult to navigate.

For that reason, we see advocacy as an important part of our role in general practice. We endeavour to work with all of our patient groups, but particularly with those who may be at greater risk of health inequality, to ensure that they are not disadvantaged because of their circumstances. This includes patients experiencing poverty, mental-health difficulties, disability, neurodivergence, social isolation or other barriers to accessing healthcare.

We want to provide healthcare that is accessible and responsive to individual needs, while maintaining the continuity and personal relationships that are at the heart of good general practice.
