ROLE: Staff Systems Applications Engineer

LOCATION: Newbury (On site)

The Opportunity

We're partnering with a global leader in advanced semiconductor technologies to recruit a Staff Field Applications Engineer focused on Aerospace, Defence, Radar, Electronic Warfare and Autonomous Systems.

This is a highly consultative, customer-facing position where you'll work directly with defence primes, emerging technology companies, and autonomy-focused organisations to shape next-generation system architectures.

Rather than focusing on individual components, you'll operate at the system level , helping customers integrate RF, communications, sensing, navigation and processing technologies into mission-critical platforms.

What You'll Be Doing

• Act as the primary technical advisor for Aerospace & Defence customers.
• Support system-level architecture discussions across advanced electronic systems.
• Guide customers from concept development through prototype and production deployment.
• Influence design decisions involving semiconductor, module and subsystem technologies.
• Work closely with engineering teams covering RF, microwave, MEMS, power management, embedded processing and software.
• Identify new opportunities within defence, autonomy and emerging technology programmes.
• Help customers accelerate development cycles and reduce technical risk.
• Provide feedback into product strategy and future technology roadmaps.

Technical Areas

You'll be involved in architectures including:

• RF signal chains operating from DC to 40GHz+
• Radar systems
• Electronic Warfare (EW)
• Software Defined Radio (SDR)
• Military communications
• Sensor fusion platforms
• Autonomous systems and drones
• MEMS inertial navigation systems
• GNSS and positioning technologies
• Power conversion and data acquisition systems

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or similar.
• Strong systems engineering background.
• Experience engaging directly with customers, end users or programme stakeholders.
• Understanding of semiconductor-based system solutions.
• Experience within Aerospace, Defence or related high-reliability sectors.
• UK National.

Experience In One Or More Of The Following

• Radar systems
• Electronic Warfare (EW)
• Software Defined Radio (SDR)
• Military communications
• RF and microwave systems
• Phased array or beamforming technologies
• Navigation systems, IMUs or GNSS
• Autonomous platforms and unmanned systems

Desirable

• Experience supporting defence primes or government programmes.
• Knowledge of RF architectures covering microwave and millimetre-wave technologies.
• Applications Engineering, Field Engineering or customer-facing technical experience.
• Familiarity with FPGA, high-speed data conversion or embedded processing technologies.
