About the Role
Our client, a leading construction consultancy based in Cardiff , is seeking a dedicated and innovative Structural Engineer to join their expanding team. You will play a vital role in the design and structural integrity of various building projects, from initial concept through to final construction. This position demands a meticulous approach, a strong grasp of engineering principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects and other construction professionals. You will be responsible for ensuring all structural designs meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations, contributing significantly to the successful delivery of complex construction schemes across Wales.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse structural systems for a wide range of building types, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and verify that structural elements are implemented as per design.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other consultants to resolve design issues and ensure project coordination.
- Perform structural assessments and provide reports on existing buildings, including repair and strengthening recommendations.
- Stay abreast of the latest building codes, standards, and engineering best practices relevant to structural engineering .
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards it.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS) and CAD tools.
- Sound knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and relevant design codes (e.g., Eurocodes).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively in a dynamic Cardiff environment.
