Substance Misuse Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Substance Misuse Support Worker to join their integrated team in Nottingham . This hybrid role involves providing crucial support to individuals experiencing issues with drugs and alcohol, employing a combination of community-based outreach, remote counselling, and case management. You will work collaboratively with clients to help them through their recovery journey, offering non-judgmental support, advice, and connection to essential services. The role demands empathy, resilience, and a commitment to harm reduction and recovery principles, contributing to improved health and social outcomes for individuals in the Nottinghamshire area.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with individuals experiencing substance misuse issues, building trusting relationships and offering non-judgmental support.
• Conduct assessments of substance use, risks, and needs, developing appropriate harm reduction and recovery plans.
• Provide one-to-one support, including advice, guidance, and motivational interviewing, both in person and remotely.
• Facilitate access to treatment services, health services, housing, and employment opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to data protection and service protocols.
• Work collaboratively with other agencies, including GPs, social services, and other third-sector organisations, to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements

• Experience of working with individuals facing substance misuse challenges, or in a related field such as mental health or social care.
• A strong understanding of addiction, harm reduction strategies, and recovery principles.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients in sensitive situations.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for client management, communication, and reporting.
• Ability to work flexibly, including some evening and weekend work, as required by the service delivery model.
• Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, Counselling, or Drug and Alcohol work are highly desirable.
