Substance Misuse Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and non-judgmental Substance Misuse Support Worker to join their team in Bristol , providing crucial support to individuals struggling with addiction. This role is fundamental in helping clients to achieve and maintain recovery, offering practical assistance, emotional support, and signposting to relevant services. You will work within a structured framework, assisting clients in managing their withdrawal, developing coping strategies, and reintegrating into the community. Key Responsibilities

• Engage with clients affected by drug and alcohol dependency, building trust and offering support.
• Conduct initial assessments to understand client needs and risks, developing appropriate support plans.
• Provide harm reduction advice and support, including clean needle exchange where applicable.
• Assist clients in accessing treatment services, healthcare appointments, and housing support.
• Maintain accurate client records and contribute to multi-agency working to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements

• Experience of working with individuals with substance misuse issues, or in a related support role.
• Good understanding of addiction, recovery principles, and harm reduction strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport.
• Resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviours constructively.
• Knowledge of local support services and referral pathways in Bristol .
