Support Worker (Dementia Care)

About the Role

Our client is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker with specialized experience in Dementia Care to join their team in Sunderland . This role focuses on providing high-quality, person-centred support to individuals living with dementia, helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and well-being. You will work closely with clients in their own homes or in supported living environments, assisting with daily tasks and offering emotional support. The successful candidate will be patient, understanding, and committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for those they support, contributing positively to the local Sunderland community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support to individuals with dementia, adhering to individual care plans.
• Assist clients with daily living activities, including dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
• Offer emotional support and companionship, engaging clients in meaningful activities.
• Monitor clients' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the care manager.
• Ensure a safe and clean living environment for clients, following infection control procedures.
• Work collaboratively with families and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Support Worker , particularly with individuals living with dementia, is essential.
• Excellent communication and listening skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
• Understanding of the challenges associated with dementia and best practices in care.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to maintaining client dignity and confidentiality.
• Relevant care qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care) are advantageous.
