Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, practical, and emotional support to individuals with learning disabilities in their daily lives.
- Assist with personal care, domestic tasks, medication management, and accessing community resources as required.
- Develop and implement individualised support plans in collaboration with the individual, their families, and relevant professionals.
- Encourage and facilitate social inclusion, community participation, and the development of life skills.
- Monitor and report on individuals' progress, well-being, and any potential risks, maintaining accurate records.
- Promote independence and empower individuals to make choices about their lives.
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities is highly advantageous.
- A strong understanding of person-centred planning, dignity, and independence principles.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and qualifications, such as a Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- Ability to remain calm and act appropriately in challenging situations.
