Support Worker - Learning Disabilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join their team supporting individuals with learning disabilities in Birmingham . This rewarding role involves assisting clients in leading fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will play a crucial part in promoting independence, dignity, and choice, empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. Key Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, assisting with daily living tasks including personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.
• Encourage and support clients to participate in community activities, social events, and recreational pursuits.
• Assist clients in developing and maintaining life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and public transport use.
• Administer medications as prescribed, following strict protocols and maintaining accurate records.
• Support clients in accessing healthcare appointments and liaising with medical professionals.
• Promote independence, choice, and dignity for all individuals under your care.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a care setting, preferably supporting individuals with learning disabilities or complex needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A compassionate and patient demeanour, with a genuine desire to help others.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and occasional sleep-in duties.
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care is advantageous but not essential.
