Support Worker (Learning Disabilities)

About the Role

Our client is looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers specialising in learning disabilities to join their team in Belfast . This role is centred around empowering individuals with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will provide personalised support, promoting choice, dignity, and respect in all aspects of care. Key Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, assisting with daily living tasks as required.
• Promote independence and encourage service users to develop new skills and pursue personal interests.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, activities, and social opportunities.
• Administer medication safely and accurately, following prescribed protocols.
• Observe and report on the physical and emotional well-being of individuals, maintaining clear and concise records.
• Assist with managing challenging behaviours in a positive and constructive manner, utilising de-escalation techniques.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities is essential.
• Understanding of person-centred planning and enablement approaches.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and some unsociable hours.
• A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is beneficial.
