Support Worker - Learning Disabilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join their team in Leeds , specialising in Learning Disabilities care. This role involves providing person-centred support to individuals with diverse needs, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives within their community. You will assist with daily living tasks, promote social inclusion, and empower individuals to achieve their personal goals. This is a hands-on role requiring patience, understanding, and a commitment to promoting dignity and respect for all clients. You will work within residential settings and in the community, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care and support with daily living activities, including hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
• Assist individuals in participating in community activities, hobbies, and social engagements.
• Support individuals in managing their finances, appointments, and other personal administration.
• Promote independence and choice, encouraging individuals to make their own decisions.
• Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
• Accurately document all support provided, observations, and any changes in condition.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Support Worker or in a similar care role is advantageous.
• Understanding of learning disabilities and principles of positive behaviour support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic demeanour.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and potentially sleep-in shifts.
• Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Must be able to travel within the Leeds area and potentially support clients in the community.
