Swimming Teacher

To deliver safe, engaging and high-quality swimming lessons that build confidence, develop aquatic skills and encourage lifelong participation. The Swimming Teacher will deliver lessons in line with the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework, support learner progression, promote water safety and create an inclusive learning environment.

Skills & Experience

• Experience delivering swimming lessons to children and/or adults.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different ages, abilities and learning styles.
• Good organisational skills, including managing class registers and learner records.
• Ability to build positive relationships with swimmers and parents.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Experience delivering the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme.
• Experience teaching school swimming.
• Experience supporting swimmers with additional needs.
• Experience supporting promotional events or aquatic programmes.

Qualifications & Credentials

• Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Current Swim England Safeguarding qualification, or willingness to maintain this.
• Enhanced DBS check.
• Current NRASTC, NRASTC Light, or equivalent recognised rescue qualification.
• Swim England Level 2 Award in Teaching Pre-School Swimming.
• Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
• Additional aquatic teaching qualifications.
• Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) relevant to aquatics.

Grade: SCP 20 – £33,673 FT annual salary pro-rated

Hours: Variable

Location: Hyndburn Leisure various sites
